It comes from the disaggregation of several education-related responsibilities from the Deputy President and Registrar’s role and is motivated by our ambition to deliver a sector-leading educational experience for our students.

The post holder will join the University Management Team and will report to me, while working closely with Deputy President and Registrar. You will ensure that University of Galway achieves high quality, innovative delivery of curriculum, assessment, and student engagement to deliver outstanding, inclusive, and future-focused success for all learners, set within the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
Leadership of our institutional approach to access, participation and student outcomes will be key measures of success. Your work will ensure that the University continues to attract, excite and retain talented students from a diverse and increasingly global range of backgrounds.
This senior leadership role comes with a significant and influential portfolio. The successful candidate will have held a senior academic position and will have an outstanding track record in educational leadership, coupled with significant management experience. As such, we are looking for ambitious candidates with exceptional people skills to lead, develop and motivate diverse teams.

This new position presents an exciting opportunity to shape the external engagement, reputation, and connectivity of our university. This senior leadership role comes with a significant and influential portfolio. You will ensure there is a strong vision and clear strategic leadership to empower and harmonise our activities across international student recruitment and mobility, regional and global partnerships, alumni relations, fundraising and development, marketing, communications (both internal and external), press engagement, reputation management and public and civic relations. The overarching ambition is to achieve a step change in awareness and reputation of University of Galway globally.
